Hemisfair is turning 50 and this whole weekend is about celebration! Beginning April 6th, this three day event includes an variety of things to do, but its the fashion show that’s got Style Lush TV’s attention, as this themed array of style will showcase the mod and pop of 60’s style.
Much attention to detail has gone into this fiesta. Branding has been inspired directly from the original promotional collateral of its time and images from the 60’s are surfacing all over online because of this nostalgia. On Saturday, April 7th, local fashion journalist icon, Michael Quintanilla will curate the 60’s flashback fashion show to pay tribute to the 50th anniversary. This will be part of the Institute of Texan Cultures 1968 Rewind-Reboot Gala from 8pm-12am. Money raised will go to the Texan Fund that impacts the exhibits, festivals and educational public programming for UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures.
“The ITC A-Go-Go Fashion Show is going to be epic fun ya’ll, with 30 happy, dancing models, with a “Shindig,” “Hullabaloo” and “Sock-it-to-me” vibe. A spectacular appearance by James Bond, go-go dancers, surprise runway guests that will make you so happy you’ll cry and be happy all over again as we stroll down memory lane, and the most fantastic 1968 pop culture and fashion explosion on the dome screen!” says Quintanilla.
