Wilmink, CEO and founder at WiseWear recently and were absolutely thrilled to learn that this San Antonio, Texas entrepreneur is not only taking on the smart jewlery industry, he’s also looking to improve it.

SLTV: Aside from safety, you mentioned that design is one of the primary focus points of WiseWear. What would you say is the ultimate problem with current fashion tech hybrids?
WiseWear: Because current wearables are problematic by design they result in products not being worn. Materials such as elastomer and rubber band are not fashionable and inappropriate for professional and formal contexts. Also, these materials absorb bacterial buildup that causes skin rashes. Another item we are focused on is safety. Few devices offer functions for women’s safety. Ours does.

SLTV: We spoke a bit on inaccuracy when it comes heart rate reports in other smart wear. How has WiseWear taken steps to improve this?
WiseWear: Signal flow is vital. With our design, we have bluetooth communication with a patented antenna allowing for signals to be sent through fine metals such as gold and palladium.
SLTV: This, also contributing to absolutely no compromise when it come to fashion aesthetics we see. WiseWear jewelry is incredibly chic!


Dr. Wilmink is a trailbrazer moving forward in many facets of his career. He was selected as San Antonio’s Tech Entrepreneur of the year and for San Antonio’s 40 Under 40 award in 2015. He also was selected for membership in to the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC), named by Forbes as America’s most elite entrepreneur organization.Dr. Wilmink is a Founding Member of a VISTAGE Key group, serves as an advisor for several startup companies, and as a mentor for TechStars, the #1 startup accelerator in the world. Burgundy Woods has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music/Music Industries from the University of the Incarnate Word and a Design & Trend Forecasting degree from The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. She began her career in Hollywood, California, where she worked for major record labels such as Virgin Records, Interscope Records, EMI Music and Capitol Records. Later after attaining her fashion degree, she was discovered by MySpace, Inc. and was immediately hired to be their Fashion Curator starring and producing her show THE B-SPOT Fashion & Trends on their Fashion & Shopping channel. Now, with over eight professional years in online fashion media and trend forecasting, she continues to pioneer, maneuver and develop her industry.
