06 Nov PROJECT RUNWAY SEASON 14: PLUS SIZE FINALE MAKES HISTORY
HEY CURVY LUSHES!
Are any of you Project Runway fans? Ashley Tipton made Project Runway history with the FIRST EVER plus size finale and earned the win for season 14. I consider this a win for all plus size fashion enthusiast! YES! YES! YESSSSSSSSS!
When you compete on a show like Project Runway you open yourself to judging and critics, even from people who just watch the show but know nothing about construction and design (no shade) so I admire the talent and strength from those designers that take on the challenge to put themselves out there!
A lot of times plus size clothing comes in solid and safe colors so I LOVE that Ashley played with fun colors and fabric choices you would not immediately gravitate towards; it was daring and very inspiring.
It is always great to see size diversity on the runway and the finale got real when the curvy models took over. I loved that Ashley’s designs allowed for the models to show a little skin in a tasteful and fun way. Just because we are plus size does not mean we want to be covered from head to toe all of the time, Ashley gets that!
I’m all for fun and unique clothes and I am looking forward to Ashley’s growth, opening of doors and what’s to come in the future. Hopefully others will find inspiration in shaking up the industry and embracing more plus size fashion.
“This was the opportunity that I was given to showcase who I really am as a designer, I had to show that this is what I design, and this is what I know.”- Ashley Tipton
Until next time CURVY LUSHES!
