The Great Fashion Swap @ Element Boutique
Feb 25 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
The Great Fashion Swap @ Element Boutique | San Antonio | Texas | United States

The Great Fashion Swap is a free community event sponsored by The Oxygen Room & Beauty Bar. RSVP here to join a monthly group of fashion swappers!

How does it work?

1. Each person may bring 5-12 fashion items that they no longer have use for nor want. Ex: clothes, jewelry, shoes or bags, etc.

2. Each person will receive 5 tickets that are able to be used to pick up an item of their choice.

3. Each person may “price” their items via tickets. For example: 1 purse = 3 tickets
or 1🧣Scarf= 1 ticket

Please note: There is ZERO monetary gain from these exchanges. It is truly a great fashion swap meant to be fun and a resourceful way of recycling and breathing new life into our fashion treasures. Recycling clothing is not just for the underprivileged, it is truly a thoughtful way to help Mother Earth!

Showcasing designs that are created and modified to assist disabled children with their dressing issues.

This event is the culmination of months of hard work by high school design students from 10 San Antonio Area high schools.  During the FashionABLE program fashion design students from Holmes, Reagan, Johnson, Brackenridge, Marshall, O’Connor, Smithson Valley, Stevens, Wagner, and Warren High Schools have been paired up with children with disabilities from San Antonio and the surrounding area. The design students have worked with the families to find innovative ways to modify the garments that they are creating to assist the child in his/her daily life.  Our models represent a wide variety of disabilities including Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome among others. Not only is this a great service project for the students, it is an opportunity for them to compete for scholarships and prizes while giving the children with disabilities a chance to shine in a positive light!

Your $50 sponsorship will not only provide a model with an experience that will last a lifetime, it will get you in to see the show!  With this TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation you will receive 2 tickets, a picture of you model in dressed in their garment, and recognition in our FashionABLE program booklet.

From the City of SA website:

San Antonio will celebrate our 300th anniversary on May 5, 2018, a milestone that can be matched by few cities in the United States. From the Yanaguana settlement to the Villa de Bejar to the 7th largest city in the United States, our remarkable journey tells the story not just of our people and place but of larger forces that shaped the world we live in today. Our tricentennial year will be an opportunity to discover our roots, commemorate our storied history, recognize our progress and collaborate on our bright future.

On April 15, 2015, the Mayor issued a memo indicating that Father David Garcia, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Dr. Katie Luber, the Kelso Director of the San Antonio Museum of Art, and Robert Thrailkill, the General Manager of the Hilton Palacio del Rio had been invited to serve as chairs of the San Antonio Tricentennial Commission, as well as the Commission’s composition and its members. Past Mayors will serve as Honorary Chairs.
