Once again, San Antonio is being put on the map and this time it comes via a local photojournalist, Michael Cirlos.  With his debut book, Humans of San Antonio, Michael has not just casted light on the anonymous citizens /general population/ordinary urbanites of downtown San Antonio but has also managed to celebrate them in a way that makes the reader connect on every level. According to publisher, Trinity University Press, the book was inspired by Humans of New York and is also a part of the Global Humans Project, a network of major cities around the world dedicated to capturing a glimpse into the lives of everyday citizens.

This week Style Lush TV was in line to not only pick up a copy of this coffee table goodness but also to meet the author and get a signed copy. It was a packed house at the industrial chic, Rosella Coffee Company, where the author held his launch party. Among the crowd familiar faces such as Councilman Roberto Trevino and State Representative Diego Bernal could be seen getting their books signed. Drinks were being sipped, cake was being eaten, and stories were being told while the tunes of DJ Despienada filled the coffeehouse and all in celebration of one 161 page book that brings the storytelling of San Antonio locals to life.

If you haven’t already, pick up a copy of this book at your local bookstore or pick up a copy and support local at San Antonio retailers such as Feliz Modern and Red Cat & Co. We dare you to flip through this celebration of storytelling magic and not identify with of the locals on display. We also encourage you to take time to meet the people you encounter along the way and share a story or two because we believe kindness and growth are always fashionable. Cheers to the greater good and continued growth of our beautiful city!
