Yesterday afternoon, the members of The Women’s Club of San Antonio filled the La Cantera Resort and Spa ballroom with style and grace. The 25th Fiesta Hat & Style Show led by Michael Quintanilla and Sarah Lucero, was true to tradition. Rich in history, this event brought many women together to enjoy shopping, lunch, silent auctions and of course, the fashion contest!
The categories included vintage, glamor and fiesta inspired hats. Proceeds from the event provide scholarships for local students, funds for non-profits and contribute to the restoration of the historic landmark mansion that houses The Woman’s Club.
The room filled with an abundance of extravagant hats; vintage, hand made, luxury and couture. For a lot of women who attend this event, these special headpieces are specifically made for this one event, year after year. The Women’s Club itself will celebrate 120 years this year, making this community, some of the most celebrated and prestigious women of San Antonio. Mrs. Jean French, a past president and member of the organization for 24 years stated, “We are a service organization and why we do this is to raise scholarship funds for non-traditional students and other organizations such as the Food Bank of San Antonio.”
Today, the Women’s Club of San Antonio chapter house is considered a Texas Historical Marker and are members of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission. This event has grown every year to continue to support student scholarships and charity organizations of San Antonio.
