It’s that time of year where we start to plan our Holiday shopping and what better way to shop than also adding a worthy cause to your gifts! The SA Cancer Council is offering San Antonio shoppers special discounts through local businesses in October as part of its mission to support critical research at the UT Health Cancer Center, part of UT Health San Antonio.

By purchasing a Partners Shopping Card for $50, shoppers earn a 20 percent discount on items from over 225 local retailers and restaurants. The entire $50 goes toward research initiatives aimed at preventing or curing cancer. Cardholders will save at high-end outlets at The Shops at La Cantera and The Quarry, including popular stores such as Brooks Brothers, COACH, The Container Store, Tory Burch, Tumi, and Williams-Sonoma. Local businesses and partners also include Julian Gold, Satel’s, Elaine Turner, The Impeccable Pig and J.McLaughlin, among others.

The shopping card and the full list of participating retailers is available online now at Starting October 20, a hard-copy version of the card and the corresponding retailer list can also be purchased at participating businesses. The card is valid only during the designated October 20-29 shopping timeframe.

“During this special shopping period in October, San Antonio shoppers have a great opportunity to receive limited-time offers at their favorite participating shops and restaurants while joining the fight against cancer,” said Ginny Peacock, chair of the Partners Shopping program. “The SA Cancer Council is privileged to be a part of an impactful fundraising effort to support critical cancer research at the UT Health Cancer Center.”

The SA Cancer Council’s Partners Shopping program has raised nearly $2 million since 2006. Shoppers, underwriters, and retailers alike contribute to this program. To help ensure that all sales fund cancer research, generous sponsors such as the Mays Family Foundation and Valero Energy underwrite the program’s promotion costs.

Over the past 30 years, the SA Cancer Council has donated approximately $4.8 million to patients and research at UT Health Cancer Center. Council volunteers also work with patients by providing companionship, identifying support resources and assembling clinical trial kits.
