Last night, Daiquonne Lanier showcased his debut collection, Jacquelynne in The Southtown Arts District. A wide variety of stylish patrons filled BRICK at Blue Star in their most fashionable attire while anxiously awaiting.
Patrons take their seats before the show
Growing up in a home of nine sisters, Daiquonne started off by making clothes for their dolls when he was very young. Later, his great-grandmother taught him how to sew and when she passed he decdied to pursue fashion design.
Daiquonne, created a collection that was not only beautiful to see but also incredibly therapeutic as he confesses to the emotional drain it took to relive his past with his former partner as a source of inspiration. Have you ever walked away from something toxic? Would you have the power to let go? Have you ever gained your life back? Have you ever experienced redemption? This and more were some of the emotional foundations set in place for the making of this collection.
Daiquonne Lanier, San Antonio Fashion Designer
True to his explanation on our previous interview, there was definitely a Parisian feel to the pieces. A true admirer of Valentino, his show displayed a small but strong collection of romantic dresses set to slow melodic music and the haunting talent of Darian Thomas on violin.

The audience anxiously awaited the final steps of Daiquonne’s last model; not to rush the show, but to finally rise from their seats to applaud the young designer. It was a triumph; truly inspired and heart felt. I, personally, confess to this being the first show in San Antonio to move me to tears. The production as a whole was beautifully orchestrated and artistically set to touch all of us who, at one time or another, have been Jacquelynne. Raves.
Catch the collection in our episode above and be sure to follow this next generation of fashion talent on all his social media.
