The day After Thanksgiving (Friday) is known as Black Friday. This is the unofficial beginning  of holiday shopping season and for many retailers the day of highest profits gained. The name has been said to relate to businesses recording their losses in red ink and gains in black, hence the name “Black Friday”. This day is arguably the biggest sales day with the most savings to be gained by the consumer. Sure it’s insane. Sure it’s can be unpleasant, but chances are, if you think local you will not be as bombarded with the insane crowds. This Black Friday, remember your local businesses to gain some savings and support your growing fashion industry.

Opportunity #2: SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY – NOVEMBER 26th

Created in 2010, Small Business Saturday was invented to ride the coattails of the Black Friday and the busiest shopping season of the year. This is the one day of the year where the #ShopLocal and #ThinkSmall idea is strongly celebrated and encouraged throughout the nation. The first Small Business Saturday initiative was sponsored by American Express and continues to be a widely known “shopping holiday” that promotes a good cause and the American entrepreneur. This Small Business Saturday, remember your local businesses to gain some savings and support your growing fashion industry.

Opportunity #3: CYBER MONDAY – NOVEMBER 28th

Cyber Monday made its debut on November 28, 2005 on a Shop.org press release entitled “‘Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year”. It is considered the “Black Friday” of the “Online World”. Come Monday, many marketers will assist online businesses (especially smaller ones) in launching campaigns that promote their drastically discounted merchandise. Popular merchandise offered on Cyber Monday has been recorded as: technology, small appliances, cutlery, kitchen gadgets, but apparel and shoes are some of the most highly purchased items bought on Cyber Monday. This Cyber Monday, remember your local businesses to gain some savings and support your growing fashion industry.
