With the 2nd Annual San Antonio Fashion Awards just a WEEK AWAY, on October 13th, our SA Fashion Community is gearing up to dawn their Red Carpet looks. There’s a good buzz going around of who will wear what & then there are some who still have no clue as to what they will be rocking down the Red Carpet. You still have time to find that perfect dress or tuxedo that will make you stand out and shine for the cameras! I’ve compiled a few ‘inspirational’ designs from this year’s NYFW S/S ’16-17 Collections and even some Red Carpet inspiration from this year’s Met Gala to help give you last minute style inspiration for the SA Fashion Awards!
I’ll start with the more FUN, FAR OUT there looks that I know some of our local fashionistas would kill to wear! I’m currently obsessing over London based designer, Ashish Fall/Winter 2016 Collection. Sequins on sequins on sequins is definitely the kind of style that I personally could wear every day! From iridescent sparkle to monochromatic, head to toe looks that shine so bright, who wouldn’t want to rock an Ashish inspired frock down the Red Carpet. Imagine the gleam & glitter, the ooh’s & ahh’s one will obtain when strutting down for the paparazzi.
Loving the full on, sequined goddess pant suit with baby pink heels and a fantastic baby pink fro that adds that extra ‘disco diva’ realness. It’s a classic ensemble with a mix of spunk thrown in.
Deep purples and textured tops with a sultry slit give this look a full on YAS! With our Fall season finally cooling down, this hot little number could be worn at the Fashion Awards to help keep you stylish & warm during the evening ceremony.
Feeling lucky in green? Green sequins are such an underrated source of pure magic in fashion and this ensemble gives me all sorts of life with a deep-V front cut, and matching shoes/hair. This definitely would have been my dress of choice last year to match my green locks!
Anyone else catch the buzz around NYFW F/W ’16 last year? I compiled a few looks from one designer that truly has the eye for glamorous, Red Carpet fashion. Cue in MARCHESA designs, elegant, timeless and a little bit of edgy glamour mixed together to create the perfect looks for the Red Carpet event.
Red’s in any and all shades is always welcomed down the Red Carpet. This deep red, ball gown, floral detail stunner of a dress is not only voluminous in style, but it’s quite the number to turn heads. It’s a very modern day Gone With the Wind style with a hint of sleek chic effortlessness with a ponytail to boot.
A true fan of fashion can never get tired of ground breaking ‘florals’ and who would be when styles like this come down the runway. Dark florals on a sheer front velvet panel accompanied by floral detail all around, it’s got all the runway trends in one dress.
Give me gold, or give me death! (not really but you know!) This gold ensemble with choker detailing and sheer floral cape-let style sleeves will have you envisioning being the winner of any award show! Oscar’s glamour meets old Hollywood with this silky, almost liquid like gold vision that just screams, San Antonio Fashion Awards BEST DRESSED, in my opinion.
If you didn’t see or hear about the buzz from this year’s Met Gala, then you missed one heck of a great Red Carpet! A-List celebrities are the luckiest people of them all, wearing the top high end designers that pretty much gift their clientele these gorgeous creations for simply being a walking advertisement in return. But who’s complaining when finally a Red Carpet that is anything but simple designs, be one of the most talked about Red Carpet events in Fashion History. The theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” and with our entire lives revolving around technology, I saw it was only fitting to highlight a few of my favorite looks!
Kate Hudson wore one of the most elegant, Atelier Versace gown with peekaboo panels and stud detailing, I ever saw. It was classic with an ode to our technologically enhanced lives, with panels almost resembling that of a robot or high tech machine. This also favors well with brides looking to be different for their Special Day, but either way you wear this, a gown as gorgeous as this will have everyone talking.
Ciara is not only one of my favorite Hip Hop and R&B singers of our generation, but she is one of the most elegant women I’ve fan-girled over that can rock the grey, silver locks with grace. Sporting a Swarovski-studded H&M dress with a choker neckline, the elegance of this dress is beyond words. I would definitely love to see our fashion community switch it up from the classic ‘safe’ styles and step out in something more daring. Hair included!
This dress and this dress alone STOLE THE SHOW at the Met Gala 2016. Claire Dane’s shut down all other competition when she rocked the elegant LED light up Zac Posen gown. This dress was the talk all over Social Media. It deserves every bit of attention for that reason. Who wouldn’t want to shine like a glow-up Cinderella princess while coming down the Red Carpet at the Tobin Center? Imagine the lights dim, the music blasting, the San Antonio nightlife come alive and then WHAM, you’re the shiny LED disco ball everyone needs to selfie with!
