FGI stands for Fashion Group International. Fashion Group International was founded in 1930 and lead by Vogue Editor-In-Chief Edna Woolman Chase with members including Elizabeth Arden, Julia Coburn, Eleanor Roosevelt,Helena Rubinstein, Lilly Dache, Edith Head, Mary Brooks Picken, Claire McCardell and Tobé Coller Davis. It was created in order to support the fashion industry and all fashion professionals pursuing a direction of business. No stranger to Trend Forecasting, FGI is one of Trend Forecasting’s major channels, attaining trend reports and making these reports readily available to professionals in need of global insight for better marketing and business decision making. What will translate from runway to real way? What were the latest creative directions from the pros and how will that affect retail? This and more is what FGI provides to the fashion industry.
This global, non-profit organization was founded in New York City, but as San Antonio currently experiences it’s fashion industry renaissance it is no surprise that we are in need of an FGI San Antonio chapter. This past Tuesday, the all new FGI San Antonio had it’s first event to announce the re-launch of the organization. With perhaps the most intriguing collection of board members to date, it was no surprise that the house was packed with eager fashion community, awaiting to hear about all the new plans for the FGI San Antonio chapter. Highlighting new board members, a calendar of events for the year and speaking on the profound changes that are going on with print media in our digital age, FGI conducted a highly successful event and created an exciting environment for mixing and mingling with fellow fashion community after.
