Here at Style Lush TV we feature so many different people of our fashion community…from the newcomers to veterans, all so different with one common interest, to grow our local industry into a notable Texas fashion community! Some are designers, boutique owners, stylists and others help to lend their hand in elevating local fashion with their artistic skills in hair and makeup. So it’s not every day that we stumble upon an “outsider” who makes a mark on our Style Lush heart.
I admire the outsiders of our community as much as the insiders which is why I am so happy to start this series: ‘Stylish Souls of San Antonio’ which will feature local individuals, couples and/or families who may not be involved with our fashion community but clearly embrace the power of fashion.

And from the words of Allysse, she presents to you the I MADE LEMONADE MOVEMENT (IML):
SLTV:Tell us a little bit about yourself.
IML/AS: Well, I am 24 years old. I’ve lived in San Antonio, TX since I was 6. It’s definitely my home. In 2013, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Communication Studies. I have 3 younger siblings all of whom I’m very close to.
SLTV:What inspired you to start IML?
IML/AS: In March of last year, I found myself unemployed and feeling no sense of direction. I decided to make the best out of it by taking a day trip up to Austin with a friend one day. I happened to stumble upon an old t-shirt that said “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” I thought, “Ya! I’m going to go make some lemonade, today!” That’s really where it all started. (Little did I know, it was the beginning of almost an entire year of not having a job. It ended up meaning magnitudes to me by the end of that time.)
SLTV:What is I Made Lemonade (IML)?
IML/AS: IML is a web-based platform for people to share moments they have made lemonade out of lemons or the best out of a not-so- great situation.
SLTV:What do you hope to gain from the IML movement?
IML/AS: Me personally? I’d love to give people a sense of hopefulness.
SLTV:What have been some of the biggest obstacles you have faced with launching IML? What are some of the greatest rewards you have received?
IML/AS: The biggest obstacle for me is finding writers for my weekly posts. Writing is scary to some people, and I fully understand the feeling. However, I really do believe in the power of the written word. The greatest feeling I get is every single Wednesday morning when I get to post a story. I feel this overwhelming sense of pride on behalf of the writer. They’ve taken this story that was in their head or heart and put it to paper. Now, that story has the power to bring hope to so many people in dire need. They made it come alive! It’s a beautiful feeling.
