Creative Creatures One Year Anniversary Party & Street Style
By: Karen Rios
Hello there! I’m Karen Rios of Pointe and Chute! I began my blog this month and I am stoked to fill it with tons of Fashion, Beauty and Artsy reviews and advice for your viewing pleasure! In addition to my focus in Fashion, I am also majorly involved in the Art & Music Community here in San Antonio, as well. Have you heard of the event called Creative Creatures? Well, this last year, my Husband and I started up a gathering to house & showcase any and every type of artistic genre we could possibly think of: Painting, Photography, Fashion, Sculpture, Crafts, Dance, Illustration, etc.
This month, on January 17th, we celebrated our One Year Anniversary at Fitzgerald’s Bar with Live Music, featuring FEA and 35+ “Creators”. It was a great turnout, to say the least. There was no shortage of awesome getups and unique street style and of course, I captured my favorites with photographs throughout the evening’s festivities! The phrase to best describe the style ambiance would easily be “No Rules Need Apply!” Performers, participating artists, and spectators alike rose up to the special occasion. Personally, I was impressed by Sami’s awesome fusion of texture and complimentary color combos. She completed her “90’s Cheerleader” throwback look with a letterman jacket and fun jewelry.
From Jenn’s dapper & classic button up polka dot shirt to John’s all-white Clockwork Orange-esque attire (seen above), the bands that performed looked (beyond) well put together.
I particularly loved Leticia’s au courant winter layering with a gauzy infinity scarf paired with a wine colored bowler hat.
In my opinion, beauty (hair and makeup) is also a huge aspect of any person’s style. So it was refreshing to see a vast array of hair colors and hair styles: pixie cuts, long layers, purple hair, red hair and even Sarah’s adorable “Bettie Bang” & mini-bun combo!
The last eclectic bunch pictured below blew me away with their awesomely outrageous ensembles! Shorts and skirts in winter? Why not! We are in Texas after all! The lovely couple, ShaSha & Breezy looked great! He color coordinated in a coolly un-conventional way and she rocked that fur coat!
Simply put, I treasured the opportunity to gaze upon all the inspirational get-ups that were jam packed under one roof! It perfectly mirrored the diverse works of art we had on display that evening! Being able to see all the creative facets of San Antonio’s community come together in harmony and support one another has been a dream come true for both myself and others. We only hope to keep expanding on our Creative Creatures events and our collective of “Creators”. We aim to keep offering opportunities to the ambitious & talented individuals in our glorious city who not only desire to show off what they’ve got, but also desire to network in a way that will make their future as bright as it can be. As we say, “Those that create together, stay together”!
